Bio
Melissa received her Bachelor’s Degree from Elon University where she spent 4 years studying Psychology. During this time she took time to explore the different areas of Psychology before deciding to pursue further education in therapy. In addition, Melissa participated in undergraduate research opportunities and has been published on the subject of linking literacy and play.
Following the time spent at Elon, Melissa continued her education at Kean University. There she completed a Masters in Behavioral Sciences- Psychological Services and a Professional Diploma in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Melissa started her career working at Contextual Family Services providing in home family and individual therapy to those living in Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties. She has worked with a variety of presenting problems. In 2020, Melissa became the Executive Director of Contextual Family Services.
Melissa also spent 11 years working with families who have had a loved one on Hospice. She spent several years running Camp Starbright, a bereavement camp for children. She provided individual and group therapy to those who were grieving.
Melissa opened her private practice in Clinton in 2017.
Melissa has given several presentations, particularly on Trauma and Vicarious Trauma as well as Depression and Anxiety in the post-Covid world.
